Vaccinations help us to prevent viruses from spreading. This is an extreme benefit, and it saves many lives. Because of this, there has been assertions to make vaccinations mandatory, and the current situation makes this stronger. An important point is, compulsory vaccination can cause negative effects that should not be ignored. Ultimately, vaccinations should be recommended, but not mandatory.

Vacinations are a double edged sword. It can either prevent people from infection and save their lives or put their lives in danger. Due to medical conditions, it can show various side effects, from minor symptoms like a headache to major problems like myocarditis, and even death. According to Openvaers, 9626 people died and 80 thousand people became ill as a result of vaccine side effects in 2021. It is inappropriate to make vaccinations mandatory when such risk factors exist.

A country should limit an individual’s freedom only when their act causes harm to others. The government recommends vaccination judging that it helps building up the herd immunity. However, being unvaccinated does not cause whether to get vaccinated or not. Therefore, making vaccinations compulsory infringes the right of freedom, and is a decision that should not be made.

Making vaccination compulsory does not mean that everyone can get it right away. It takes a lot of time to produce or import vaccines from another country. It can also be a problem to decide which groups to supply it to first. In addition, if the vaccine becomes mandatory, the government will have to support a part of the cost, which will cost a lot of money. The underprivileged are unable to visit medical institutions, and this makes them more likely to receive vaccines that are reliable.

In conclusion, vaccinations should not be mandatory because it can cause side effects to people. The decision not to be vaccinated is a personal right, and should be respected. Furthermore, making vaccination compulsory needs a lot of time and money, and also causes problems especially to the underprileged. Therefore, we should increase promotion of vaccines and recommend people to get them rather than making them mandatory.
